One Light and Shadow

I wanted to produce a series that allowed Beka to express her grungy wild and yet sensual side. A single strip box to camera right cross lit her to show off her musculature and then to enhance the shadow on the left I placed a black v flat pretty close into her, just out of frame.

I didn’t direct Beka much as I wanted her to move under her own ideas but it was important to remind her where the light was coming from and that any poses would have to be angled towards the light. Turning the other way produced some split lighting looks that are quite dramatic.

The light meter gave me f11 but I opened up a little to f10 to enhance the highlights in camera.

I love the intensity in Beka’s eyes and way the cross light defines her chest.

Monochrome conversion done in Lightroom.
