Well we’ve been a little quiet on the blog this week and full apologies for that.
The reason is that we’d decided to adopt a rescue dog and settled on this gorgeous big fella.
I took him out on Monday and on Tuesday we arranged to pick him up next week. On Wednesday we were called and asked if we’d like him that day for unforeseen reasons.
That threw us into a complete tizzy having to buy new kit, adapt the house a bit and brace the cats for the invasion.
We then took delivery of a huge ball of muscle and cuddles and it’s all been a bit of a whirlwind since.
Back to Monday though and it was great going off for a walk in the woods with him and trying to take pictures. He was on a long lead that couldn’t be taken off so it was a real challenge trying to get him in the right place, light and capture the moment. I put the camera to Aperture priority and f5.6 with auto ISO and matrix metering. That gave me good shutter speed and depth of field whilst still blurring out the background.
Getting down low was an issue as whenever on his level he came in for an investigation. I’ve never yet shot with a model who wants to hug and kiss you, or the camera, every time we got close!
A few contrast tweaks and used the Spot Healing brush to remove the lead in photoshop on most of the images to give a more natural feel.
Who knows, I might even get him to Ark before too long
